AI can help turn an idea into software in hours. But software is not automatically a product, and a product is not automatically a business. In 2026, the bottleneck is moving.

OpenAI reported that Codex had surpassed 5 million weekly active users by June, with use expanding beyond traditional developers into research, data analysis, workflow automation and lightweight software creation.
And the rise of vibe coding has opened software creation to people who previously wouldn’t have considered themselves developers.
The difficult question is no longer simply:
Can I build this?
Increasingly, it is:
Will I finish everything that comes after building it?
